Announcing Google Code Jam 2009

오늘 지메일을 열어보니 한여름이 절반이나 지났는데 감감 무소식이라 열리네 마네 한동안 소문이 무성하던 구글의 프로그래밍 경시대회, 구글 코드 잼(Google Code Jam) 2009 년 대회 개최 소식이 있었다.

8월 중순 경부터 시작되며, 퀄을 포함해서 총 네번의 온라인 예선를 거쳐 최종 25 명은 캘리포니아 구글 본사에서 11월에 결승전을 갖는 일정이다.

작년에는 지역 결선 출전이 500 명, 최종 결선 출전자가 100 명이었는데 올해는 지역 결선도 없는 듯 하고 최종 결선자 쿼터가 25 명으로 대폭 그 숫자가 줄었다. 구글도 요새 좀 어렵다는 이야기가 들리던데... 역시 규모가 축소된 코드 잼에서부터 그런 느낌을 받게 된다.

Code Jam is back!

We're excited to announce Google Code Jam 2009, this year's iteration of
Google's annual programming competition, which offers coders from around the
world an opportunity to solve complex algorithmic problems under time
pressure, using the programming languages and tools of their choice.
The contest will have a new format this year, starting with online rounds
and ending in a 25-person final in our Mountain View, California
headquarters. We're still choosing exact times for everything, but for
planning purposes we wanted to give you this tentative schedule. Please note
that the timing may change:

Early-Mid August: Registration will open.
+4 Weeks: Qualification round
+1 Week: Rounds 1A, 1B, 1C
+1 Week: Round 2
+1 Week: Round 3
November: World Finals in Mountain View

Online rounds begin soon, so start practicing!
